Storyline

Evil Space Aliens called the Xilians unleashes all the Earth's monsters to lay waste to most of the world's major
cities, including Tokyo, New York, Sydney, Shanghai and Paris. It is up to Godzilla and the Earth Defense Force to
vanquish the monsters and aliens to rescue the world in the ultimate "Save the Earth" battle

 Nel 21esimo
secolo la Earth Defense Force (EDF), composta da guerrieri dotati di poteri straordinari, difende la Terra dalla
minaccia dei Kaiju. Il più terribile di questi, Godzilla, in seguito ad un duro 

scontro viene
imprigionato tra i ghiacci dell'Antartide. Ma un pericolo ancora più grande incombe: gli alieni Xilien, fingendo di
voler aiutare la razza umana, intendono in realtà distruggerla scatenando un 

attacco simultaneo di tutti
i Kaiju. La EDF è a questo punto costretta a risvegliare il suo peggior nemico.

  Il film, girato per
festeggiare il 50esimo anniversario di Godzilla, costituisce un remake de ''Gli eredi di King Kong''. Con un costo di
quasi 20 milioni di dollari, detiene il primato per il budget più 

elevato in tutta la serie di Godzilla.
Con i tipici toni del film celebrativo, fanno la comparsa quasi tutti i mostri apparsi nei film precedenti, e viene
fornita una fitta schiera di attori già apparsi nella 

serie. Vengono integrati elementi da diversi film
americani tra cui Independence Day, X-Men, Matrix e altri, e viene dato poi particolare rilievo alle scene di azione
aventi come protagonisti gli umani
